Volunteers at collection sites enjoy using their gifts of organization, planning, and communications to collect the carefully packed shoe box gifts and plan the transportation of these boxes to Processing Centers. Ministry Title:Ministry Objective:As a member of the Collection Center Team, mobilize and assist people, churches and groups in assigned area to become actively involved in sharing the eternal joy and hope of Jesus Christ through Operation Christmas Child (OCC) by meeting the logistical needs of collecting shoe box gifts. Requirements:Good organizational and communication skills, connected to and knowledgeable of assigned geographic area, spiritually mature Christian committed to the ministry goals of OCC. Responsible to:Collection Center Coordinator Relates closely with:Collection Center Team, short-term collection volunteers, donors Primary Responsibilities:Within the OCC guidelines and within the assigned area: As a member of the Collection Center Team, you may be assigned one or more of the following:
Optional Responsibilities:May serve on one other ministry team to fill a vacancy. Selection Process:Appointed by Collection Center Coordinator. Time Commitment:One to five hours minimum per week, most likely increasing to a maximum five to ten hours during November and December (may increase to 10-15 hours during National Collection Week). Length of Commitment:One year. Begins in January and ends in December. May hold assignment for multiple years. May be ended at any time by volunteer serving as Collection Center Coordinator or SP/OCC staff. Training:Initial Leadership Team training (with Regional Staff). Annual review and refresher training (with Collection Center Coordinator). Commitment:For mutual understanding, I accept the Collection Center Team Member position and have read and agree with the SP Statement of Faith and Volunteer Guidelines. |
